What I Packed for a Weekend in The Hamptons
PC: Florré
If you’re looking for a Hamptons packing checklist, then I’ve got you covered. I just got back from a four-day Hamptons trip, and thanks to my meticulous planning and Hamptons packing guide, I had a seamless experience. Already at the start of Spring, I had journaled my wish to spend a long weekend in the Hamptons this summer. It’s a destination that has always felt a little out of reach—not because of its distance from my Westchester apartment, but because of the very real financial barrier that stands between me and every New Yorker’s favorite summer getaway. That’s why, despite growing up in New York, I had never stayed overnight in the Hamptons. It didn’t stop me from daydreaming about chic shopping trips to Main Street in the East Hamptons or bonfires on the beach with a group of friends, though. So I did what I always do and wrote (in cursive) my hopes of spending a few hot summer days out in the East.
And then it came: an invitation to join CBC Health House in the Hamptons for a four-day getaway, all expenses paid for. I immediately confirmed my attendance and began brainstorming what to pack for the Hamptons.
I made a Hamptons summer packing list for an itinerary that included a game of pickleball, lounging by the pool, and cocktail hour with several different brands. Bikinis, tennis skirts, and Hamptons-appropriate dresses were packed, and the next thing I know, I’m on a sprinter van headed East with six other journalists.
The weekend was filled with brand activations, breakfasts, lunches, and dinners. When we weren’t learning about Philip’s new laser hair removal device or playing soccer with Chobani’s brand representatives, I swam in the pool or quietly retreated to the room for a quiet moment to myself.
We were even allotted some time to explore Sag Harbor. Although, given that each meal was accounted for, I couldn’t exactly sit by the water with a glass of wine contemplating the meaning of life. I’m not complaining, though. I learned so much about health and nutrition, movement and rest, that I genuinely want to change some of my at-home habits.
Thanks to my super smart packing technique, I was never faced with a moment of not knowing what to wear. Day dresses, evening gowns, lounge outfits, and accessories were all neatly packed in my suitcase. I figured I’d share my packing list with you so that you may have as seamless a trip to the Hamptons as I did.
