The Best Raffia Totes to Own This Summer
PC: @Khaite
I’ve been on the hunt for a really good raffia tote. Summer is around the corner, and I don’t want to schlepp a leather shoulder bag onto the beach—it kills the vibe. I should preface this by saying I’ve been hunting since the spring of 2025, when I was living in Hawaii with my parents. And while there were a few okay raffia totes available in Waikiki, I didn’t want to get just any flimsy straw bag that would disintegrate after a few uses. I was ready to invest in a chic, high-quality raffia bag that I’d use every summer after.
Easier said than done, honestly. Sometimes I’d find my dream bag just for it to be out of budget. And when I finally have said budget again, the item is out of stock. That’s a sad reality for people who shop with a hyper-focused fixation (me). We know what we want, and we won’t settle until we have that exact item.
I have a series on Florré called “The Hunt.” My first episode was released in March, where I hunted down the perfect leather jacket. These shopping stories go beyond just your average roundup of cute stuff on the internet. I actually go out and see the items for myself (or at least try to). Sometimes I have trouble finding the pieces I have in mind, so there’s unfortunately not much I can do about those. The hope with this series is to do the heavy lifting of actually going into stores, feeling the products with my own hands, and giving you a more thorough review of what’s in market, with the end goal of spending my own money on them. So, let’s get into what I’ve found for today’s story: the best raffia totes!
The Best Raffia Tote Bags
The Khaite raffia tote currently sits at the top of my wishlist (both in natural and in black and white raffia!). It has a rounded base for stability and a small internal tie closure.
$1650
This Anine Bing tote almost immediately caught my attention when I first started my beach bag hunt. It’s extremely spacious and can easily fit a beach towel and a book.
$395
I picked this up in store the other day and fell in love. It’s really well crafted, and the simple yet elegant structure is ideal for a minimalist closet.
$495
I haven’t actually tested this tote in person, but the PR team recently emailed me announcing its launch, and I was intrigued. It’s made out of cotton (not raffia) in an intricate crochet construction.
$248
This bag hardly needs an introduction, given that it’s all over Instagram. I did get to test this bag out for a story I wrote for InStyle a while back, and can confirm it lives up to its hype!
$285
Loewe has a number of beautiful raffia beach totes. I was originally going to write about this one, which I was close to purchasing second-hand in Japan last year. I’m glad I didn’t because this interation is far more my style.
$1950
For something a little more budget-friendly, I recommend this raffia bucket bag from Madewell. It has a magnetic closure protecting the contents of the bag, and a sturdy strap for comfortable wear.
$128
This gorgeous number by Magda Butrym has been sitting in my mind rent-free—I even featured it in my Vacation Edit. It’s made entirely out of leather, stitched and crocheted into a half-moon-shaped purse.
$2000
