Cute Hairstyles to Try This Summer

When The Row released its Pre-Fall 2026 collection, there was just as much (if not more) excitement around the beauty details on the models. A designer with a following that some might consider cult-like had its customer base momentarily forget about the finely tailored clothes and focus on the hairstyles instead. The intricately tied hair felt like a representation of the brand itself—simplistic and clean in appearance, but likely took several hours and years of practice to perfect.
Hair isn’t clothes, though. You cannot buy it from a collection and place it on your body. You work with what grows out of your head—something you had no say in. So when I saw the beautifully made hairstyles, I instantly knew that my 5 pounds of hair could never.
I recently got a haircut, though—my first professionally done haircut in four years. I’m usually the one to bring scissors to my own hair, snipping away flyaways, trimming the dead ends, and even giving myself curtain bangs. Whenever I tell people I cut my own hair, they look at me like I’m a deranged child with a weapon (read: scissors) in her hands. But the reality is, my family has been cutting each other’s hair our whole lives. When I was younger, my mother would do my hair. In college, my sister took over the role. And only when they were both far away from me, I’d visit a hair salon.
The Row, Pre-Fall 2026 Hairstyles
Only, the result was never something I liked. I’d end up returning to my bathroom, frustrated at the sloppy job that cost me $100. I’d “fix” the situation, asking myself why I’m paying so much money only to end up doing it myself anyway. And thus, the self-service haircuts began.
In the last four years, I’ve managed to really create a nest on my head, though. After all, I’m not a professional, and there’s only so much my untrained hands can accomplish. So for my birthday, my partner treated me to a professional haircut at a nearby Japanese hair salon.
With my hair looking sleeker and tamer now, I look at The Row hairstyles with a newfound appreciation. Could I possibly achieve the sleek, intricate hairstyles myself? With a fresh canvas to work with, I’ve been scrolling through Pinterest and grabbing inspiration for fun summer hairstyles. If you’re dry on ideas too, just take a look at the following hairstyles—many of which are quick, simple, and easy to accomplish. These are the best summer hairstyles I’ll be trying on myself.
The Best Summer Hairstyles to Try
The Sculptural Scrunchie
A simple ponytail turned sculptural masterpiece. You can instantly elevate a messy updo by opting for a sculptural, elegant scrunchie. Here is a similar piece I found on Etsy.
The Grown-Up Braids
If braids feel a little too young, then give them a grown-up twist by folding the ends into the base of your braid. Hide your hair tie with some sleek bows.
The Slicked Back Ponytail
We all know the slicked-back bun, but how about the slicked-back ponytail? It has a somewhat equestrian appeal, particularly when finished with a slim leather bow.
Floral Details
When in doubt, accessorize. Whether that’s with floral hair clips or pins, these eye-catching details are a perfect way to make your hair look more festive.
Add a Lace Headscarf
Not too long ago, I mentioned that lace headscarves will be the hottest hair accessory of 2026. They’re easy to style and instantly elevating.
