Yes, Everyone is Wearing Brown This Fall

I have to say, I’m a little relieved that this season’s it color is brown. As much as I loved the reds and burgundies of last year, I struggled to incorporate them into my closet. It seems there was a bit of a personality clash between me and the color red, so when chocolate brown came out as 2025’s it color, I immediately cozied into the trend. Brown is something I can work with easily. It’s pure luck that it combines well with last year’s color, too, should you want to recycle some old pieces. For me, a touch of baby blue underneath a brown suede jacket, or a cream coat over a lace brown skirt is the way to go.
A number of fall items I already purchased are brown, and an even bigger chunk of items still sitting in my wishlist are brown, too. It’s a warm, cozy, down-to-earth tone that simply works well with all the natural changes happening outside. When I go for a walk with my dog—latté in hand—I want to feel the warm embrace of a brown wool sweater. And as a visually-driven person, knowing I match the coffee I’m drinking makes me feel all kinds of fuzzy inside.
Over in the footwear department, I saw brown sneakers trending as well (and did a roundup of them for ELLE). But why limit brown to shoes? There’s a plethora of dresses, skirts, and tops to be dipped in the chocolate fountain, too. I scoured the internet for all the best brown clothes and came up with these stylish selects, below.
