Everything I Bought in Preparation for Fall
PC: Florré
I’m not one of those eager-to-bundle-up, hip-hip-hoorah-for-fall kind of girls. It takes a lot for me to get excited about cold temperatures and gloomy, dark days. It’s not that I dislike fall—I just see it as a harbinger of winter. And winter, I can say with my chest, I truly abhor.
I’m no grinch, though. Like any good fashion editor, I love fall for its fashion. The cozy knits, the muted tones, and the layering potential are all things I can get behind. In fact, shopping for fall outfits might just be the only thing that can get me to perk up about the season. That’s why I give myself grace when I splurge maybe a tad too much, like I recently did, in preparation for fall.
While in the past I may have shamed myself for turning to shopping as a means of therapy, now, as a shopping writer, I can claim it as my nature. You can’t tell me that buying a cozy cashmere sweater, some chic boat shoes, and a new Tod’s doctor bag wouldn’t light up your seasonal blues. I’ve been really meticulous about purchasing items that feel like extensions of myself, investing in high-quality pieces that outlast trends and win against the fight with time. I’ve also been clearing out old, outworn items, saying no to freebies, and creating a more curated wardrobe. And because of that, there was no buyer’s remorse as I stocked up on some new fall finds, which I’m sharing with you below.
I knew I needed to have this sweater the minute I spotted it at Aritzia. I was doing some research for the Jenna Lyons x Aritzia story I was writing, and happily went home with the snuggly, oat cashmere zip.

On the same visit, I picked up these Aritzia x Sperry boat shoes. I had spotted them once before and regretted not purchasing them. With how affordable it is, I was certain it would fly off the racks in no time. Borrowing style points from Miu Miu, I instantly fell in love with the colored tassels.

Sorry! Another Aritzia item—I was in a mood to spend. I actually got this polo in the red striped version, but now that I’m seeing this green hue on the website, I want to recommend it instead.

I have been eyeing this Tod’s bag forever. It’s the most beautiful doctor bag, in my opinion, but it’s been out of my price range. And then I found it at Woodburry Outlet for $980, and I practically pounced on it. To my surprise, it even fits my laptop!
$3,295
This dress has been on my radar for quite some time now too. Long enough for me to say: what am I even waiting for? Just buy it. So I did, and it’s currently getting exchanged for a smaller size. Can’t wait to wear it when I have it!

Acne Studios Leather Pumps
I wish I had a link to these shoes, but unfortunately they don’t seem to exist on the retailer’s site anymore. I got them at the Woodbury Outlet for $380, which seems like a fair price for Acne Studios. I absolutely adore the long square toe and gray/brown hue.
