The Long Skirts That Make Winter Dressing Feel a Little More Exciting
PC: Lauren Manoogian
A skirt is not something you typically associate with winter, but I’m here to make a case for them. Both from a stylistic and practical standpoint, maxi skirts and cold temperatures make a perfect pairing. Those tall riding boots you recently bought? They certainly don’t go well with wide-leg jeans. They do, however, fit wonderfully with a long skirt. And if you wear some tights underneath, you’ve secured yourself an extra layer of warmth—that’s far more than a pair of trousers can do for you.
I touched on this briefly in my “Things I Find Chic This Winter” post, so my dedicated readers are probably not surprised to find a list of the best skirts on Florré now. But not just any skirt makes for a good cold-weather bottom. The best winter skirts are typically knit, reach your ankles (or close to it), and elevate your winter wardrobe in ways pants simply don’t. That being said, I’ve included a few silk options below, too. I know I’m not the only one with this belief, because it took quite some digging to find decent skirts that are still in stock. Those in the know have already secured their favorite winter skits. So after some intense internet surfing, I found the ones below, which strike a balance between sleek, cozy, and eye-catching. I would pair them with heeled ankle boots (I recently purchased this one from Madewell) and a semi-cropped leather jacket or floor-length wool coat, depending on the temperature.
In my continued attempt to romanticize winter, I’ve learned that a long, thick skirt may just be the final missing piece to my winter wardrobe, seeing that I’ve already invested in a balaclava and leather gloves. And honestly, after many failed attempts at enjoying the cold weather, I feel like I’m making some progress this year!
