The Vacation Edit: Getting Ready for a Mediterranean Summer
PC: Florré
Summer is right around the corner, which means we’re getting ready to pack our vacation bags with meticulously planned outfits. Last year, my girl and I went on an end-of-summer trip to Mallorca, enjoying the Mediterranean island before coming home to embrace the beginning of fall.
While I thoroughly enjoyed the crystal blue waters, lounging by the pool, and eating my weight in paella, if there’s one thing I could have done differently, it’s to plan my outfits more in advance. I was very busy with work over the summer (a blessing) and missed my usual routine of planning my outfits, shopping for the essentials, and visualizing a week in looks.
Resortwear has been gaining popularity in the world of fashion. I do not doubt that the White Lotus played a role in its resurrection. And while designers have always been showing cruise collections, the attention the public is paying to them has significantly increased. I, too, am writing this shortly after Chanel showed its 2027 Cruise Collection in Biarritz, pumping me with fresh inspiration and ideas for the summer.
There’s an undeniable feel of opulence to this form of dressing. Luxurious trips to all-inclusive resorts and the belief that money doesn’t count in a foreign destination feel like the height of vacation mindset. Suddenly, a $570 sun hat makes total sense. Well, if you’re like me and only get to one or two trips a year, then I have to say, why not?! Treat yourself, it’s the vacation you worked oh so hard for, and you should look and feel like a million bucks. Here’s everything I would pack for a Mediterranean summer.
