It’s Finally Loafer Season Again, and I Found The Best Ones

Best loafers of 2026

PC: St. Agni

It’s finally time to bring out the loafers again. I know some of you may have been wearing them throughout the winter too, but my feet are too cold to wear them in the snow—even with socks. I recently pulled my old loafers out of storage only to find the style rather outdated. I purchased mine some five years ago, and the trends surrounding loafer styles have evolved since then. I have the classic hard leather loafer that resembles a Japanese school uniform shoe. What I’m eyeing now is something a little softer, and ideally with a square toe and high vamp. My loafers have logged a lot of steps since I bought them, but I’m ready to swap them out for something more timely. Enter: the best loafers of 2026.

I took a friend to Bloomingdale’s the other week and helped pick out a new pair of loafers for her. She opted for the Vince Leather Loafer Mules, which have a more laid-back, sophisticated appeal. I know that everybody was raving over The Row mules when they initially came out, but seeing that they’re no longer in stock, I found plenty of similar styles featuring the ruched front and comfortable soft leather.

As always, these stories help me as much as they (hopefully) help you find the next best thing in fashion. Loafers are a closet staple and worth a bigger investment, in my opinion, so I included a number of high-end shoes to consider. That being said, I found plenty of styles under the $300 mark that fit the bill as well. These are the best modern loafers to shop right now.
