Cecilie Bahnsen and UNIQLO Are Collaborating on a Collection
PC: Cecilie Bahnsen
This morning, Cecilie Bahnsen and UNIQLO announced a collaboration collection dropping on May 22nd through a joint Instagram post. The carousel post featured a first look at some of the pieces that will be dropping next month, which will be covering both women and kids.
The collaboration feels like a natural match. The Copenhagen-based brand is well-loved in Japan for its feminine, yet powerful ensembles. It has a part streetwear, part romantic aesthetic, which are both words I would use to describe Japanese fashion.
According to the two brands, this collection brings together “the Copenhagen brand’s signature blend of modern femininity, poetry and craftsmanship with UNIQLO’s focus on simple, thoughtful design and functionality.”
While CB’s personal designs may be more avant-garde and couture, the collection with UNIQLO will focus on everyday wearability and softness.
This news comes shortly after Cecilie Bahnsen announced a collab sneaker with another Japanese brand, Asics. Shoes that would pair perfectly with the upcoming ready-to-wear collection, might I add.
UNIQLO’s collaborations with highly sought-after designers are typically well-received. Jonathan Anderson’s JW Anderson collection for UNIQLO, for example, has been going on for nine years.
Would this collaboration also go on for as long? We have yet to see, but we wouldn’t wait that long to jump on the pieces once they drop. The minute the collection goes live on May 22nd, we’ll be at the door ready to shop.
