Apparently, Brooches Are Back, and These Are My Favorites

To my own surprise, I’m delightfully drawn to brooches at the moment. Back in December of last year, my dad’s older cousin (who doubles as my secondary grandmother and will be referred to as such, long story), offered me several brooches from my family’s collection. The ladies on that side of the family were, for the most part, quite the stylish madams in Vienna. My great cousin was a professional flapper, my grandma was a fashion designer, and my secondary grandmother has a fur coat collection that would make any PETA member faint. And while I did take in a lot of my grandma’s jewelry when she passed, I respectfully declined the brooches my secondary grandmother offered me.
FOOLISH. I know. I regret it wholeheartedly. Not just because brooches are having a moment now, but because declining a family heirloom feels quite rude. In my defense, I did accept a little ring and watch, but I felt that the brooches would remain under-appreciated in my household. My secondary grandma’s apartment is like a museum of antiques, vintage decor, and gaudy jewelry—the brooches would fit right in there, I thought.
I’m honestly banging my head just writing this. I wish I had given those antique jewelry pieces a second look, because now I’m stuck here googling “best brooches” when I could have had something from the family vault, directly from Vienna, and attached with a unique story.
This is a very long-winded way for me to say: brooches are back, baby. They’ve shed their stuffy connotations and migrated off of grandma’s coat just to land on this generation’s most stylish people. Mark my words: they’ll be on every influencer and editor at next year’s fashion week, so get ahead and shop the chic, trending brooches below.
The Best Brooches to Shop
A freshwater pearl sits in the middle of this eye-catching brooch that’s been formed to look like an iris flower.
If you want a diamond look without the diamond cost, then Swarovski is where to shop. And since the pearls are faux as well, the brooch is completely vegan-approved.
This might just be my favorite brooch at the moment. It’s playful without being childish or kitschy. Plus, it serves as an instant conversation starter.
While traditional brooches feel loud and attention-grabbing, this one adds a subtle touch to your look that’s neither too much nor too little.
In the off-chance you’re looking to really splurge on a diamond floral bouquet brooch, I’m adding this option from House of Brilliance to consider.
I normally don’t love overtly branded accessories, but this Loewe rope brooch somehow feels subtle and classy.
Art enthusiasts will appreciate this brooch, created by the Met Museum as an ode to master jeweler and goldsmith Peter Carl Fabergé.
This brooch feels very 2025 (or I guess 2026 now), due to its minimalist design. The spiral shape gives it a little edge and would look wonderful on any black coat.
Last but not least, there is this Jenny Bird brooch. It has a bit of that Elsa Peretti style to it, which instantly gives it an elevated appeal.
