My Honest Review of Aritzia’s Cashmere Line

PC: Aritzia

I have this incredibly soft Rag & Bone cashmere sweater that my father splurged $200 on at the Woodbury Outlet. It was on a double sale and just a week before Christmas—the only reason I convinced him to buy it. Mind you, he never spends more than $50 on his own clothes, and to this day, it’s still the only item of clothing he’s ever gotten me.

It’s been over 10 years since that day, and I still have it in my rotation. It’s just as soft as day one and it never fails to elevate my outfits. That’s how I learned the value of high-quality garments—investment pieces that pay for themselves in cost-per-wear.

That being said, I haven’t come across a cashmere sweater I liked that’s under $600 since. I once got swindled by an online retailer promising to make cashmere affordable, only to end up with a paper-thin, questionably scratchy sweater I wouldn’t have spent $30 had I seen it first (it was $180). My takeaway? Cashmere isn’t something you can buy on a budget.

But then this Jenna Lyons x Aritzia campaign email landed in my inbox and it sparked my curiosity. The crewnecks and cardigans linked were all in the $140-$200 range, instantly flagging my skepticism. Knowing better than to trust perfectly styled campaign images, I headed to the Aritzia store in Soho the same day. Here’s my honest review of what I found.

The Aritzia Bare Cashmere Polo Longsleeve, $148

I was impressed with this cashmere polo. In fact, my own mirror selfie doesn’t do this number justice. It was feathery soft and not as thin as it appears in my photo. I tried on an extra small, but perhaps I should have tried a small or medium for a more relaxed fit.

Aritzia Essential Cashmere Relaxed Crew Cardigan, $198

Looking back, I actually regret not getting this deliciously soft cardigan. It had just the right weight—the kind of thickness that can keep you warm under office air conditioning. Polished and cozy, this cardigan makes for a worthy investment.

Aritzia Essential Cashmere Hooded Zip-Up, $198

This is the piece I ended up getting. The hooded zip-up immediately won my approval, wrapping me in cashmere’s signature fuzz and making me feel at ease. I purchased it in the Heather Nomad Taupe, but they didn’t have my size in store so the black version is what I have to show below.

Aritzia Cashmere Crew Sweater, $148

This is a great option for anyone looking for a cashmere long sleeve shirt. It’s not thick enough to count as a “sweater” in my books, but it still looks and feels like high-quality cashmere. Wear it with a fitted white T-shirt underneath or simply as is.

Aritzia Bare Cashmere Crew Cardigan, $168

No false advertisements here either: this delightfully soft cardigan is exactly what you expect based off its e-commerce photos. As you can see, it’s not a thick knit the way the Relaxed Crew Cardigan is (second on the list). But it’s still a great every day option to have in your rotation.

The Final Verdict:

Overall, Aritzia’s cashmere pieces get my stamp of approval—backed by my own purchases. It’s been a while since I’ve seen fair prices on cashmere sweaters, so this feels like a real win. The pieces look and feel high-quality, and I trust they’ll last a lifetime in my closet.
