All The Different Ways Women Are Wearing Silk Scarves

Ever since writing my Best Silk Scarves story, more and more stylish scarves have been entering my peripheral vision. I don’t know if I’m just more conscious of the accessory now, or if the trend is starting to pick up momentum—either way, there’s no denying that women have been adding more silk scarves into their rotations.

What I specifically love about this trend, though, is all the different ways people are styling silk scarves. Whether it’s in your hair, on a bag, or around your waist, there seems to be an endless amount of ways you can wear a summer scarf. It’s made me look at my own collection of scarves and wondered how far I can stretch its usage. Factor in all the different sizes, shapes, and colors, there’s plenty of room for creativity when it comes to styling scarves. For a breezy sea-side vacation, a large head scarf can protect your hair from the unforgiving wind and moisture. Meanwhile, cocktails with the girls can mean casually draping a scarf over a skirt.

I’ve styled silk scarves every which way—tied around a ponytail, wrapped elegantly over my hair, even looped onto a purse for a touch of flair. For more inspiration on how to wear silk scarves, see below!

Over Your Head

One of the most common ways to wear a silk scarf is over your head. Not only is it a stylish accessory, but a form of protection as well—it defends your hair from UV rays, aggressive winds, and moisture.

In Your Hair

You can also tie your hair back and add a scarf as its finishing touch. It instantly adds a little umph to an otherwise simple hairstyle.

Around Your Waist

For something a little more current, I’ve been seeing people wrap silk scarves around their hips. Find a skirt or a dress you like and add a little visual emphasis around your waist.

On Your Bag

Scarves on bags is just a classic look. As a matter of fact, if you don’t know where to find quality silk scarves, I recommend visiting your favorite bag brands like Longchamp or Hermés for a lovely curation.

Around Your Neck

Lastly, you can use silk scarves as, well, a scarf. Conversley, you can loosley drape it over your shoulders and tie it together over your chest.
