Is Atorie Any Good? My Honest Review of The Viral Loafers

I’ve been wearing the same loafers for five years. A hard leather classic penny loafer I got from & Other Stories that looks like the kind of shoe a Japanese school kid wears. The truth is, they’re way too sturdy and the leather never really broke in, making them impossible to wear for long hours. I’ve therefore been on the hunt for a new pair of loafers, and the brand Atorie kept popping up in my Google search. After months of it rotating in and out of my peripheral vision, I managed to get my hands on the Ruched Heel Penny Loafers, so I figured I’d do a quick Atorie review.
Atorie is an e-commerce marketplace that promises luxury fashion at fair prices. You’ll find many popular styles and trendy designs in the $100-$300 price range. It’s fairly new to the market, having only been founded in 2024 in California, but has already amassed a large following and tons of intrigue from people like me, who are just getting acquainted with the brand.
So is it all talk? Is it just good marketing, as so many things are nowadays? Or do the products live up to the hype? Here’s my honest Atorie review.
The shoe in review:
First Impressions
I was worried I would get a pair of flimsy loafers that only look good in pictures. What came out of the box, though, was a proper pair of shoes with a soft yet structured leather outer and a hard sole. “Made in Italy” is inscribed at the bottom. The inner portion of the loafer is lined with a semi-suede fabrication.
It retails for $235. I think I would value them at $190—on par with something you’d find at G.H. Bass. Atorie offers a higher selection of silhouettes than G.H. Bass, though, so I think the general pricing at Atorie makes sense. I don’t love the shininess of the shoe, but that’s just as pictured on the website, so it’s technically not a surprise.
The Fit and Feel
I ordered a size 39, and it fits like a glove, without socks. I’m incredibly impressed with the quality of the leather, which feels durable but not stiff, like I can walk in it for hours and it will become one with my foot. With socks on, it feels a little snug, but I assume the leather will stretch and mold in no time.
If my former loafer was a kid’s shoe, these are proper grown-up loafers. They can be thrown on without much thought, and will look good and feel comfortable throughout the day. I love the high vamp, which makes me feel like I can wear them in the winter, too.
Final Thoughts
The question was whether I can trust this online retailer and if it delivers on what it promises, and the immediate answer is yes. It’s exactly what it claims to be: high fashion at fair prices. In a world where luxury is becoming increasingly unattainable and prices are running up the hill, Atorie honestly feels like a saving grace.
I see a lot of designer “dupes” on this site, which I’m not a big fan of in general. But if it’s unique, beautiful styles I’m shopping, I’ll be coming back to Atorie over and over again.
