Versace and Onitsuka Tiger Collaborate on a Limited Edition Sneaker

PC: Onitsuka Tiger

On today’s unexpected fashion news, we have Versace collaborating on a limited edition sneaker with Japanese footwear brand, Onitsuka Tiger. The shoe is a reinterpretation of one of Onitsuka Tiger’s hero models, the Tai-Chi, and is named the Tai-Chi Sakura. It’s a blend of Japanese craftsmanship with Versace’s visual flair, and features seven colorways of a slim-fit sneaker.

The Tai-Chi Sakura sneaker somewhat resembles a sneakerina, which gained popularity last spring and continues to make frequent appearances this year. With a shorter vamp than a traditional sneaker, it leans more toward fashion than function, which feels fitting for the two lifestyle brands.

The collaboration was announced via a Versace x Onitsuka Tiger collab post on Instagram, revealing an exciting launch party that took place at the Versace flagship store in Ginza, Tokyo, on April 2nd. And while Onitsuka Tiger has yet to make the collection available on its site, it’s ready to shop on Versace’s e-commerce site as well as in its worldwide locations.

The devil is in the details, they say, and that rings true with the Tai-Chi Sakura shoe. You’ll find Versace’s signature Medusa hardware on the tongue, its name on the sole of the right shoe, and Onituska Tiger’s on the left. There are both suede and nappa leather options available.

My eyes naturally gravitate toward the sakura-pink colorway and the Kill Bill-inspired yellow and brown shoe—a color combo that’s signature to Onitsuka Tiger thanks to its Mexico 66 model. But there are plenty of other neutrals, as well as one metallic option to enjoy. If you truly want a unique it-shoe in 2026, I would say go for this one.
