How To Achieve The Perfect No-Makeup Look This Summer

My drab and pale-looking skin has me layering on heaps of foundation in the winter—as if the extra layers and full coverage could keep me a tiny bit warmer in the cold. But as soon as the temperatures rise and the beaches whisper my name, I practically forgo foundations altogether and opt for a more natural glow. I let the sun do its work (over a layer of sunscreen, of course), switch over to my summer skincare routine, and dab just a tiny bit of makeup over my cheeks.

The best summer no-makeup makeup look requires only a few products and a gentle touch. The goal is to never look caked up—you want to opt for lightweight, glowy products that enhance your natural features. Instead of foundation, opt for a skin tint, or even switch to a shimmery skin oil. Blushes are your best friends in summer, as they can mimic the appearance of a sun-kissed cheek and nose.

Find my favorite summer makeup up products below, and I hope you have a memorable few months in the sun!

Best Summer Foundations and Skin Tints

I recently added this glowy serum into my routine, and I love naturally healthy it makes my skin look. It doesn’t glitter or clog my pores, either.

Merit’s Great Skin Instant Glow Serum makes your face look like it’s just returning from the beach.

When I initially tried the What The Foundation, I was mesmerized with the way it dispersed onto my skin. Unlike a traditional foundation that covers all your blemishes, this one simply blurs them while maintaining the overall appearance of your natural skin.

This is the ultimate summer skin tint. It gently covers blemishes without completely erasing them.

Best Summer Blushes

I love a berry shade in the summer. Milk Makeup’s Lip and Cheek stick is all you need to carry around when touring different cities in the summer.

I simply adore the floral shape of Clinique’s Cheek Pop Blush. The rose colored hue also fits the lighthearted vibes of summer.

One of my favorite blushes, Merit’s Flush Balm melts onto the skin, revealing a pop of color on your cheeks. It’s easy to dab and spread, too. I especially recommend it for people with normal to dry skin types.

Selena Gomez always has the most perfect blush on in her selfies, and I can only assume she’s using her own Rare Beauty Liquid Blush line.

Best Summer Lipsticks and Oils

I recently started using Summer Friday’s Lip Butter Balm, and the flavor, consistency, and color are just chef’s kiss. Bonus points for not being too sticky!

I have about four different shades of Merit’s Signature Lipsticks. They’re lightweight, not to opaque, and perfect for the summer.

I have friends who swear by Tower 28’s Lip Jellies. Although I haven’t tried it myself, I adore the range of colors offered by the brand.

For a darker hue, I recommend Tarte’s Maracuja Juicy Lip Plump. The glossy lip balm deposits a beautiful color and helps give your lips a little visual boost.

Best Summer Bronzers

Add a bit of this bronzer on your cheeks and forehead, if you wish to contour your face. It adds a subtle golden shine that mimics a sun-kissed glow.

These bronzing drops can be mixed into your foundation and help you achieve a natural-looking tan without actually going into the sun.
